We’ve put together a list of services (with their contact details) that are available over the closure period; all generally free to use. We hope these are helpful if you need any support or advice during this time.

Our Advice Service will be closed from 16:00 on Thursday 1 April 2021 until 10:00 on Monday 12 April 2021. However, there are other support provisions that are available for you over the winter break.

Appointments with the Advice Service

If you would like to book an appointment with our service for when we reopen, please use our contact form or email us on If your matter is urgent or you have an upcoming deadline, please let us know and we’ll do our best to prioritise responding to you.

UCL Support Services

UCL will be closed from 17:30 on Thursday 1 April 2021 to 9:00 on Monday 12 April 2021.

The final Student Support and Wellbeing same-day appointment session will take place on Thursday 1 April. Same-day appointments will resume on Monday 12 April – students can book an appointment by phoning 020 7679 0100 or contacting the Disability, Mental Health and Wellbeing team in Student Support and Wellbeing via askUCL. Longer pre-booked appointments will remain available in the final week of term. These can also be booked in advance by contacting the team via askUCL.

Other Support Services

Care First

A free telephone and online support and counselling service for UCL students, which will be open 24 hours a day during the closure period. Qualified Care First counsellors provide guidance on a range of issues, from things happening at home to university life.

Shelter Website

The Students’ Union Advice Service is not able to offer emergency or crisis support.

If you’re in immediate danger of hurting yourself or others:

  • Go directly to the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department of your local hospital to get help
  • UCLH is the nearest A&E department to UCL’s main campus
  • Call 999 to request an ambulance if you are unable to reach the hospital yourself

If you’re feeling distressed and need urgent support:

  • Contact your GP surgery to request an emergency appointment
  • If your GP surgery isn’t open, call the free NHS out-of-hours medical line on 111 for help accessing the right services
  • You can call the Samaritans on 116 123 to talk to someone at any time, day or night
