Dhwani Ruparelia
Hello everyone! I am Dhwani Ruparelia, but you can just call me “Ni”!

I am running for the position of Bartlett Faculty Representative PGT. I am currently studying M. Arch AD. Before joining UCL, I studied my B. Arch in India, freelanced as an architect for a brief period of time and co-founded a Bangalore (India) based architecture firm called DAK Architecture Studio.

As an architect, I am experienced in communicating with various people and getting the job done in good time. I am confident that this experience will prove useful towards the responsibilities of a Faculty Representative. Personally, I am outgoing and easy to approach.

As a Faculty Representative, the following will be my agenda:
- Being an active listener to both the students and the faculty.
- Voicing your opinions and concerns in order to bring positive changes to my best capacity.
- Helping everyone with making the most of these uncertain times as we all work remotely.

Feel free to approach me at any time, whether it’s a concern you have or if you just need a chat with someone, (irrespective of being elected), as I understand how daunting university life could get sometimes. Cheers!!
Suthida Chang
Hello! I’m Suthida Chang, studying MPA Innovation, Public Policy and Public Value, and I want to represent YOU as the 2020-21 Bartlett Faculty PGT Rep!

My past experiences range from Academic Rep, Teaching Assistant to campaigning for transparent learning management and assessment. As your representative, my priorities are:

1. Fostering proactiveness — Feel free to reach out to me no matter how big or small your concern is. I pledge to listen to, respond and ensure that your voice is heard.

2. Academic transition — A master degree is a big decision! Together, we can better prepare ourselves for this transition. I’ll also work on providing comprehensive module descriptions so that future students will be more informed.

3. Inclusiveness — As an international student, I share your experiences. From race, ethnicity to gender expression and language support, I will coordinate with the Bartlett so that we are equally represented.

4. Career Guidance — The value of education lies in its benefit to society but we don’t always know what to do post-graduation. We need Bartlett-specific career mentorship and skills-based workshops to prepare us for the workplace of the future!

The Bartlett promises to build a better future, vote for me to build yours.
Christina Meng
The reason why I fit this role is I believe I will always be there to support you no matter who you are or where you are from as well as enabling every one of you to enjoy your journey in our Bartlett (Build Environment) Faculty. Also, I have studied 3 years in the UK and worked effectively and smoothly with people who are from the different cultural background (such as the UK, Lebanon, Vietnam, Poland) before, my friends and colleagues would best describe me as patient, extrovert and always listening to others’ need.

If I was elected, my priorities would be:

• Survey to proactively seek your thoughts on the department and your programme and listen to any concern you have, keep students update with vital events or information.
• Report any students’ feedback related to education or non-education to the meeting in order to make real change.
• Maintain contact with different parties. (Union, Other Course Rep or Departmental Rep)

I sincerely hope you will give me this opportunity of making positive change for our faculties. I will make our year in the university as smooth and fun as possible for every one of you. Thank you for your support.
Meng Wu
I am dedicated to representing voices of student during my study. In year 2018, I was elected as student representative for Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, University of Nottingham by all students in the Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence programme; In year 2019, I was elected as one of six members of election committee for University of Nottingham Student’s Union, elected by all students of University of Nottingham. In a word, I am dedicated to representing the voices of our students and communicate with the university for a better teaching quality and student experience. If elected, I will represent voices of master students of Bartlett (Built Environment), pursue a better teaching quality and a better student experience for us, and hold a set of activities and parties online or offline where all master students of the faculty can participate in. Please vote for me!
Tianchu Jia
This is an unusual year for all the students and staff because of COVID-19. Both the students and staff are experiencing new learning and teaching methods. Some of you even not in London or in British. I noticed that the lack of communication for the academic process between students and our university will cause unexpected results for the department, even the faculty to be developed. I am interested in this role because I wish students and staff can construct a well-education environment. Based on my volunteer experiences of student union in China, I am more conscious about the importance of the voice of student. Sometimes the aim of official policy can't be understood by students totally, therefore causing a lot of bad behaviors. Sometimes the right of student can't be exposed to official. Under this condition, I hope that I can be elected as FR to enhance our department, wider our learning experiences, and promote the value of students and staff working together to build a better experience.

I think I should be elected because I have the passion to enhance and do this job. I took my undergraduate program in China, which gave me a chance to have a better understanding of different background students especially international students. I can speak English and Mandarin frequently, and a little French and Japanese. Meanwhile, I am willing to communicate and work along with other representatives and staff. Thank you for your guys and enjoy our time in UCL.
Yaroslav Melekh
Educational process is a lot about studying hard, meeting deadlines and preparing your thesis. I believe it’s essential, yet not the only vital part. Despite our professional background, ethnicity or gender, we all have the right to shape the environment in which we’re educated.
As it takes two to tango, we can build a more resilient UCL community by liaising between students and academic staff and where everyone’s voice counts equally in. In this relation, my experience is twofold – as an undergraduate, I used to lead a student council and represent my faculty at the university level, and while working on my PhD I used to teach. Also, as a British Council facilitator, I used to lead trainings on research communication skills for over 100 academics and researchers for 2 years. Through this experience, I learnt how to build a sound repour, ice-break, and engage with often much more experienced academic staff into training activities.
I think this twofold understanding provides me with empathy on both sides and puts me in a unique position to successfully represent not only student voices but also to engage academic staff to co-create a more inclusive academic community at UCL.
Nathan Lau
Hi everyone. I’m Nathan and this is my fourth year studying in UCL. I want to be a Faculty Rep because I have enjoyed an excellent stay in UCL before and I want to make this year an even better experience for you.

Many of you would probably be asking why there is an election going when everyone is just studying at home rather than in the campus. Just the opposite, during this unusual period a reliable representative is needed much more than before. Are you tired of sitting in front of the computer screen and find no help to solve your concerns? It’s time to express your thoughts and let the representative be the bridge to deliver your voices towards UCL and transform them into reality.

As the Faculty Rep I will fight for
1. Better studying environment with more frequent feedbacks and interactions between the faculty and students.
2. More career opportunities such as virtual career fairs and invited guest speech.
3. Higher academic quality with more sophisticated learning platform and quicker support from department.
4. Any other comments or concerns you want about your UCL life!

I look forward to being a representative that can bring you the best experience. Remember, not only your votes, but also your ideas and responses are essential to turn this year into a fascinating UCL life!
Fangchen Liu
Hello everyone!
This is Fangchen LIU, from MRes Inter-disciplinary Urban Design.
I think the premise of applying for Faculty Rep in Student Union is to contact the students, to learn more about students, to mobilize students, to guide students. As a member, I would take the initiative to help and service them and actively cooperate with different departments from the University to carry out the work.

Pros of me:
1. I am a positive person, Very Friendly, Very Patient, and Very much like to help others.
2. I am a person who is attentive, meticulous and responsible.

Additional Advantages:
As an international student, I have a good grasp of some problems and troubles from international students' study and life in London. I can better and more effectively understand and help them to deal with these problems.
XiaoYing Xie
I think it will be a precious opportunity for me to contact with teachers and classmates, and I am really good at communicating with others and seeking out all kinds of questions. I always try my best to enrich my life and increase my knowledge. At the same time, I am willing to listen to others because I am a patient person. When I was a undergraduate, I often did a lot of voluntary jobs, helping many people in need. In my opinion, being a volunteer has been beneficial to the build of my characters and cultivation of some abilities. I believe that, if I could abtain this opportunity, I will complete every task efficiently and offer the most help to teachers and students. Thanks for the support from all of you!
Hao Zhang / Yanning Yang
I am Hao Zhang, an Urban Design student. I am Yanning Yang, an Architectural Design student. We are running for the Bartlett faculty representative for taught postgraduates.

As most of you, we are here for a better future. We want to get the maximum out of our courses. In light of difficulties caused by COVID-19,  we want well-organized syllabus and up-to-date information.

Therefore, our priorities as your Bartlett faculty rep are:

1) More information on our program. We will seek information on processes of the study, teaching and assessment. We should be well informed so we can plan our studies better.

2) Learning enhancement and dynamic feedback. We will propose short-time but frequent small group studies with supervisors to balance our learning experience and burdens of faculty members.

3) Career and industrial insights. We will help to organise more career fairs and events. We will be active to liaison with Bartlett alumni to share their experience with our current students.

A vote for us is a vote for your brighter future.
