Hi! Nice to meet you!
This year we are given an outstanding opportunity to concentrate on our studies and ourselves. And all I wish to do this year as a Faculty Rep is to support you through this!

My top priorities this year:

COMMUNICATION: We are engineering students and we thrive in collaboration, so I will oversee the creation of the faculty and department specific channels to ensure you have enough opportunities to discuss your work with fellow students and be creative.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT & CAREER TRANSITION: As you may find it harder to interact with your lecturers this year, especially those of you who are overseas, I will work with departments for you to have the contact hours you were promised in a convenient time and receive prompt feedback on your work.

I also intend to work closely with staff members to ensure you have every chance to be allocated the industry position for your summer project. UCL intake has increased this year and I will make sure that does not affect you adversely.

Moreover, I want to ensure that students, who wish to continue in academia have as much support from the university as students who wish to work in the industry directly after graduation.

I want you to have a say in what is done this year, so if I am elected, I will run a survey to find out what it is that you need the most and work throughout the year to accommodate as many points raised as possible. Elect me and stay tuned to see what is coming!
Nashon Miwizi
Over the last 8 years, I have worked relentlessly as a leader and in 2017 I served as the president of the student council at Strathmore University. Therefore, upon being elected, my immediate focus will be on five things.
• Less bureaucracy in communication with departments and faculty.
• To increase student feedback to provide a service more tailored to what students want, through drop-in sessions, suggestion boxes, email surveys.
• A more active and connected faculty with more support for MSc taught students.
• Helping better integrate international students who often feel adrift at UCL.
• introduce an inter-university "hackathon"-like event.

In addition to my experience, I was elected in 2019 as the Executive Secretary of the Institutes of electrical and electronics engineers (IEEE) Young Professional. I have equally worked at Huawei technologies on a leadership position as the Quality Assurance manager hence I have had the opportunity to experience and understand the issues related to STEM discipline. I pioneered the formation of the IEEE 5G Community and Computational Intelligence Society. I am equally an elite member of three International professional organizations, Cisco Networking Academy and YALI (Young African Leaders Initiative) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Therefore, I believe The skills gained in my academic life, and professional work relationships will be useful in serving as the faculty representative, EEE.
