Yifei He
Influenced by my high school motto: One's Own Path Is the Most Beautiful, I finally uncover a path that meets my personality and capability best. That is to forge a fruitful career life in education. I hope to make full use of my own enthusiasm, expertise and empathy to help my students not only become knowledgeable persons but also realize their aspirations in their own unique journeys. I would like to be a diverse educator in different areas like school education, international education, museum education and internet education.
Meanwhile, I am eager to help students, and create a better place for us to learn! Hope we can enjoy our time in IOE!
Yajing Fu
Hi! I am Yajing Fu, a student who is studying MA Education. I am running for the IOE Faculty Rep position.
As a graduate from MA Chinese-English Interpreting and Translation in the University of Essex, my 2-year academic experience in the UK equips me to hurdle the language and cultural barrier and acquaints me with MA’s workings, thus making it easier for me to serve as a bridge between students and school. Having worked as an English teacher and class head teacher in a middle school in China for more than 4 years, my sufficient practical experience in education enables me to conduct effective communication and coordination between school and students.

Personally, as a student who preciously struggled to get adapted to the life in postgraduate study in the UK, I know what it takes to be a distinguished graduate and can totally relate to what you have been and what you will come across. You can turn to me WHENEVER and WHEREVER you are! Under the new circumstances of Covid-19 and online learning, I plan to forge in-time communication with staff and students to ensure that everyone can enjoy your education experience without being interrupted by the ongoing pandemic. Please feel free to contact me by [email protected] uk. Thank you all!
Viktoria Makai
I am currently doing a MA in education. Having done a PGCE interrupted by Covid-19, I personally experienced the challenges of moving to online teaching and the problems with the system. As a Student Academic Representative, I became the voice of our group, and I believe that we made a positive impact, however, the system is still not perfect. Because of having been part of two programmes, I believe that I could get closer to fairly representing the whole of the institute of education. Vote for me and I promise you that I will be available for you and pass on all your feedback in the relevant meetings to make a change. I have been a Student Academic Representative for four different departments during my time at UCL, so I know how to make sure that my group’s feedback is acted on. I will not shy away from giving harsh feedback when it is necessary to improve our learning experience and I will make sure that concrete promises are made and followed through.
Danial Bashir
When I came to know about my acceptance at Institute of Education, I was proud of my achievement. Parallel to that, I had to think about finances. I hail from Pakistan and it has been hard to gather money for tutions. I decided back then that when I am going to reach UCL, I will contest for a position where I would be able to do something for incoming students, where I, together with the UCL community, would be able to support them in their dreams. I know of so many people who couldn't pursue their ambitions just because they couldn't afford them. I just don't want to sit idle and wait for something better to happen. It's a moral responsibility of us students who were able to reach UCL to support those who will come after us. They must know that we cared for them. Our legacy as students of one of the greatest institutions of this planet must not be ordinary. We must stand up and strive.
So, if given opportunity to become your faculty representative, I would propose to set up a UCL/IOE community fund to help those in need with their academic expenses.
Secondly, many universities have opted for limited on campus teaching unlike UCL/IOE. On the other hand, our university is still in doubt regarding next term.
With your support, I would push the administration for more clarity and increased on campus learning from next term within defined health and safety procedures. On the other hand, if pandemic worsened, I would campaign for subsidized fees structure.
DANIAL FOR IOE...
Souleymane Diabate
Hello everyone. My name is Souleymane DIABATE, I am currently a student in MA Education and Technology at IOE. This year, I am running for the position of Faculty Representative because of my aspiration of making IOE a more academically engaging and socially inclusive locus for all IOE students.
I have experience in leading postgraduate students organisation and I have developed sound leadership and communication skills which, I believe, will enable me to strive and respond to your aspiration.
If elected, I would endeavour to:
• Seek your opinions about how your programmes are running in a bid of ensuring you are making the most of your studies
• strengthen the relationships between IOE and other faculties
• Facilitate students exchange as a great number of IOE students are international students. Face-to-face meeting being difficult with the novel coronavirus, I will strive to foster an environment where students can have the change to easily exchange with their international mates.

Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto and feel free to get in touch with me should you have questions about my ideas.
