Danilo Paganelli
Hey! My name is Danilo and I would love to be in the committee for the UCL Bookclub! I love reading and I think that bookclubs are perfect opportunities to meet other people and make new friends, whilst also discovering new books and interests! I would ensure that the society is the best that it can be and that both online and in person events are fun, welcoming and interesting, as well as accessible (and woth snacks!) I would also ensure that feedback is taken seriously in order to improve the society, and to create some other events too, such as possible screenings of adaptions of books that we have read after we have finished them, and even parties and Cook offs! I would also love to collaborate with other societies too, and also help fundraise money to buy books for people who cannot afford to in order to make the world a better place.

I want to better and diversify our reading experience by organising reading discussions with relevant cultural societies, including more genres and forms into our book selections, and incorporating other exciting themes in addition to the ones we already have. For example, we could have weeks themed around historically banned books or even – hear me out – fanfiction. I am excited to take a more active role in organising and facilitating our discussions, and I'll be sure to get your feedback through polls and surveys to make your Book Club experience rewarding.
When we have in-person sessions again, my experience in planning and managing events would serve us well in organising meetings with food, drinks, and lots of good cheer. I want to create a cosy and safe space where we can have Alice in Wonderland-esque tea party events themed around books as well as serious discussions of any text. Of course, I am looking forward to going to the theatre, book signing events, and organising book swaps for all of us.
Some new projects I have in mind are podcasts at the end of every month, where we give our thoughts on the literary works we have read. We could also do short book reviews to encourage students tired of their textbooks to pick up a short read. Beyond that, I would also like to redouble our efforts in publishing our members’ original works and possibly discussing them as well to bring us closer together.
Thank you for reading!
