Ji Choi
Hey everyone!
My name is Ji A Choi and I am a second-year student for the BSc Cancer Biomedicine program, running for the welfare officer position. To briefly introduce myself, I have experiences serving as both the first-year representative and the cancer institute representative for the UCL CCA in the past 2 years. Regardless of the title of my position, I can confidently say that I have actively tried to act upon as a bridge between our society and the UCL community in multiple aspects. For instance, I have participated in organizing and designing posters and ‘posts’ for our official Instagram & Facebook account. Additionally, as the student representative for my programme, I have tried to encourage students from our degree to take advantage of our events, which had close relevance to cancer research.

I am fully aware that the fundamental role of the welfare officer position is to support anyone in need of help and to encourage students from UCL to join our society. With my past experiences and great enthusiasm for UCL CCA, I can boldly say that I would successfully fulfil the two responsibilities without major obstacles. Moreover, if given the opportunity, I will continue to maintain an open atmosphere to both recruit members with diverse backgrounds and spread the awareness of cancer among UCL.

For the aforementioned reasons, I am certain that I would be a competent and committed addition to the UCL CCA committee!
Your vote would be greatly appreciated!

I would love to be the Welfare Officer for the Cancer Charities Alliance Society because Cancer is one of the leading causes of death and I really want to help fund the fight against it. One of the things that I would help the society do is to spread awareness about the early signs of different types of cancer, so that more people are able to spot them and get treated earlier, thus increasing the odds of survival. As the welfare officer I would be supporting all the members of society and I will be there to offer kindness and support for anyone that needs it. An idea that I have to help raise money for cancer research charities is a library book haul - members of the society (including myself) would go to Cancer research charity shops and buy some books that can be donated to libraries/schools/UCL - thus not only supporting Cancer Research, but also charity shops and people in need of books.
