Hi guys!

I think that I would be good for this role because I have strong communication skills, both in writing and in person. I think that I am a friendly person, which I hope will come across in social media posts and the weekly newsletter, to encourage people to get involved. I’ve written a regular Science page for my school magazine and been responsible for email updates, so I know how to write effectively to get across important information. Having been a part of Dance Soc for the past 2 years, I have a good idea of what’s going on. I am organised so you can trust me to post regularly and respond to messages quickly. I am looking forward to working with the rest of the committee, to look into:

- Making Facebook photo albums and more pinned posts, so that information such as monthly calendars or class schedules, are easy to find
- Providing a link to an ongoing Feedback form (in addition to at the end of term) in case people have any burning thoughts midway through
- Facebook/ Instagram polls to find out what people want e.g. for online events or communication methods

Stay safe!!
Vislesha Vinjamuri
Hey! I’m Viv and I’m running to be your Communications Officer!
Dance Soc has been one of the highlights of my second year - I have met so many lovely people through classes, workshops and working on TranscenDance, and I would love to be able to give back to the society.
I believe I have the skills required for this role, especially from my experience as a part of the TranscenDance Production Team. My role as a part of the prod team has involved handling the communications side of TD. Due to Covid, we often had a lot of updates to put out, for which I drafted and sent out the emails to universities. As well as this, since the format of the competition is online this year, we had a lot of questions from other universities which I responded to with other members of the team. Together, we had all emails and social media messages responded to within a day.
I also took on external communications to merchandise suppliers, which involved communicating questions and ideas from the prod team to them.
Being a part of the prod team has also required me to interact and communicate with other members of the society (mainly the president and treasurer) and has given me a good idea of how the committee works to deliver a successful project.
As Communications officer, I would aim to maintain the high level of communication in the society that previous officers have had, but also increase communications to Fresher’s specifically to encourage them to get more involved.
Thank you!
Gillian Cheong
Having joined UCL Dance Society as a shy and quiet fresher, the friendly weekly mailers and accessible Facebook page made me feel encouraged and welcomed to venture into dance and meet new friends. Being more vocal (and shameless), I hope to pay this forward as your new Communications Officer! I am friendly, love working with people, and am also reliable and organised. If elected, you can expect prompt responses, friendly announcements, and spicy emails.
