Farhana Greene
Hey everyone! I’m Farhana and I would love to be your new resident choreographer :) I believe I would be great for this role as I have a vast range of experience in different styles of dance such as street, jazz, hip hop and contemp. On top of that, choreographing is something I thoroughly enjoy doing whether alone or with others. As resident choreographer, I would be encouraging and motivated to help others whilst keeping a positive environment for dancers and choreographers alike. I have a lot of creative ideas to bring to the table and I’m comfortable in taking the lead with things such as teaching choreo, and running warmups for full casts or rehearsals. I also have plenty of experience in teaching as I used to be a dance captain in high school, I used to teach Irish dance to kids as a job, plus I choreographed a wildcard piece for our comps team this year. As a current fresher’s rep, I understand the commitments of being on the dance committee and I’d be excited to continue. If you vote for me I promise to make it a fun & funky fresh time, thank you <3
Sophia Lussi
Hi there! I‘m Sophia, a first year History student. What I love about choreographing is having a kind of blank canvas, the freedom to explore a theme, a song or a space through movement and the inspiration that comes from working with dancers and creating something collectively, each dancer making the choreography their own. As Resident Choreographer, I will make sure that everyone in the society can express their creativity whether through seeing all the dancers are safely warmed up before shows or through creating fun finales mixing different styles such as jazz and hip hop to end shows with a bang ! I strongly believe that everyone can create movement, which is essentially what choreographing is, so I want to dedicate a lot of my time as Resident Choreographer to mentoring choreographers in the society, helping them fulfill their full potential and produce pieces which match the high standard of UCL Dance Society! Besides getting to create pieces for both the Fresher’s Show and the Showcase this year, I have choreographed for my local ballet school and have a lot of experience teaching choreography for different levels in person or virtually. Can’t wait to create with you next year! Thanks for voting!
Marie Houot
Hi, I’m Marie a first year Natural Sciences student from Finland and France! I absolutely loved my first year in Dance soc and have realised what an open and engaging community it is, which is why I want to run for next year’s committee. I have been dancing for over 10 years in various styles (ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and others) and hold some prior experience with choreographing before my time at UCL. This year I also choreographed for UCL’s competition team as the choreographer for intermediate contemporary. Alongside my dance experience, I believe to have other skills which would make me a good fit for this position. I have previous experience with managing teams and holding leadership positions and I am no stranger to having a busy schedule ;). I am incredibly committed to projects and jobs that I am passionate about and I know that this would be no exception. I would do my absolute best to be a good mentor and leader to all choreographers and be a reliable and committed committee member. Please vote for me for your future resident choreographer, and I will promise to be the best Resident Choreographer I possibly can!
