Development squad is the way I joined the club, so I want to give others the same warm welcome I received when I first started playing. I may have only started in September, but I loved the training sessions we were able to hold and I’d really like for the new members to have the same (or better!) experience with the club.
I’d like to get the devs to form a thirds team and play some friendly matches against other unis or local clubs so that the new members can experience matches in a more informal way, and hopefully encourage them to try out for mixed league on weekends as well.
I'm very enthusiastic, organised, good at communicating and I like meeting new people, so I'd love to be able introduce the new members to the rest of the team; as well as encouraging them to come to socials and weekly training so they can really be part of the club!
Whilst training was very disrupted this year for obvious reasons, I was at every training session I could manage and really enjoyed the sport. I hope lacrosse can be as fun for new devs as it is for me!

Hi, I’m Stella and I’m a 2nd year Natural Sciences student. I joined lacrosse society in my first year and as someone who had barely played any lacrosse before coming to UCL, I’ve loved coming to development training as it’s been a great way to learn the sport and meet lots of lovely people. I would love to be development captain because I want to make sure that all new players feel as welcomed into the society as I did and have a chance to experience how fun and sociable lacrosse can be, regardless of your ability. If elected captain, one of my priorities would be to organise some friendly match opportunities for the team because in my opinion matches are the most fun part of development training. I also feel that more matches would help give an idea of what it’s like to play competitively on the first and second teams and this could be useful if development team members want to work their way up to a higher team. I hope that I can be a welcoming and encouraging captain and can’t wait to play some lacrosse again!
