Vera Mekhonoshina
Being online means being recognised. Being discovered. Social media provides a unique platform that can realise a society’s potential and accelerate its growth through event advertising, content creation, and audience engagement. My name is Vera Mekhonoshina, and this academic year I have been part of the highly motivated LWS Committee in the role of the First Year Representative. As I now nominate myself for the position of Marketing Director, I envisage two key aims for this role: to increase members’ participation in our range of insightful events and to grow society’s membership. My background in social media management, content creation and journalistic writing includes compiling and promoting LWS newsletters and events via MailChimp, running my own educational blog on Instagram, creating interactive blog posts and polls from scratch as part of my History degree, and recently becoming a Forbes Education Contributor after publishing my first article. These experiences continually challenged me to employ my time-management and organisational skills, as well as the ability for collaborative and individual work. As the Marketing Director of LWS, I believe that I can use these skills to expand our community and get our events even greater recognition.
Marta Sadlej
Hi everyone!

I am Marta, a Biomedical Sciences student with an interest in the applications of new technologies in life sciences. I will be starting my second year of studies in September.

Only in the last month, I was involved in running the LSS's meeting with the Nobel Laureate Robert Lefkowitz, as well as the UCL SciCon's Pizza&PhD event. As always, a large part of that work was advertising the events, which I believe I am quite experienced at.

My interests include many areas of sciences. My work with molecular dynamics and quantum modelling during the ongoing gap year gave me great insight into the field of bioinformatics. During the last summer, I completed an internship in a stem cells lab, where I was exploring the exciting field of regenerative medicine. Our project of updateable immunity passports has won second place on "COVID Challenge", a hackathon organised in April.

I firmly believe in the power of networking and want as many people as possible to discover the great events at the Leading Women Society. As the Marketing Director, I would make sure that the society's work is visible all over social media and on the campus.

Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn or Facebook if you have any questions.
