Pryan Pirakalathan
Hi, my name is Pryan Pirakalathan, and I am running for the position of Treasurer for Malayali Society!

The role of treasurer requires an individual to be thorough with analysis of finances and numerically apt, an assertive negotiator, and well-organized in general.

A treasurer has a crucial role in society as they handle and are responsible for all financial matters of the society. I believe I have the qualities to gain sufficient sponsorship packages for the society and be responsible enough to fill in all the grant applications and the financial paperwork for any events that will take place. I will be able to keep a close eye on the weekly statements so therefore I can also advise the president and help make his job easier. I would also like to be involved in all aspects of the society and being a treasurer will allow me to do this as I will be advising committee members on the budget for their activities. Having a good treasurer is important as they can provide the most money for the Malayali society to throw the biggest and best events we can as a society and I believe I can fulfill that role to the fullest.
Joel Raju
Hi everyone, my name is Joel, a 1st year Mathematics with Economics student and I am running for the position of treasurer at Malayali Soc.
Little bit about me: massive cricket fan (and player), recently started running and I love to take pictures :)
If elected as a treasurer of Malayali Soc, I will:
1. Ensure all the funds of the society are efficiently managed and clear records are kept in line with the SU
2. Work closely with the committee members and the president to ensure events run smoothly and members are happy
3. …and ultimately grow this society to be one of the best on campus

I have previously been involved in many events with my sixth form committee. These fundraiser events (charity events, cake sales etc.) have given me the skills in dealing with money as well as working in a team. My proposals as treasurer will include, working on a new sponsorship deal and reaching out to companies in order to lower ticket prices and reduce memberships fees. The interest of the members of this society is most important to me and I vow to put all my effort into this role.
Despite being in global pandemic, Malayali society was inaugurated this year and held a few online events as well. However, I am eager to work on bringing more real life events next year and excited to meet you all in person.

Vote Joel, I can promise huge discounts :)

Over the past year, I have genuinely enjoyed my experience at the Malayali society. From the socials to getting the chance to meet other Malayali's and those interested in Kerala's culture. As Treasurer I hope to grow the community. I am also interested in fundraising for charity by organizing food stalls and games from Kerala and also build relationships with other Malayali societies in the UK.
