Sarina Ramasamy
Giving back to the community through music is a hugely enjoyable part of RUMS Music. I am organised and enthusiastic and strongly believe that music plays a key part in bringing us together. Last year, I had the opportunity to sing carols to patients on hospital wards. This was an enriching experience and witnessing the positive impact this had on patients and staff highlighted to me the importance of using music as a means to communicate with others. If elected, I hope to plan similar events such as carolling and organising live instrumental performances in care homes, involving as many people as possible.

For me, volunteering plays a key role in connecting with the wider community and if elected I would encourage members to get involved. There are many online volunteering projects, for example performing classical music for UCLef or becoming a musical volunteer for Centre 404. I would love to plan volunteering events and workshops for everyone to participate in, connecting with members from different groups of RUMS Music while helping the community.

If chosen for this role, I aim to organise busking throughout the year involving singing and instrumental musicians. I believe that this is a brilliant way of raising money for charities whilst also having fun. Additionally, I think it would be great to collaborate with other other societies in fundraising events. Overall, I am determined to help develop the volunteering and fundraising aspects of RUMS Music.
