Jun Ong
Hello! I’m Jun Zhe and I am a first-year BSC Economics student running for the position of Treasurer for UCL Singapore Society.

I believe I am a good fit for the treasurer role as I am someone who pays attention to details and will keep track of all invoices, revenue, and costs efficiently. I have financial experience in fund managing and financial statements and hope to apply these transferable money management skills when being responsible for the society’s account.

My main goals as treasurer will be to:
1. Ensure fiscal prudence as there could be lesser funding and it will be potentially harder to get sponsors. I will ensure that the funds are allocated sustainably.
2. Collaborate with the sponsorship director and think of innovative ways to raise more funds
3. Support the Committee members and plan more social events not just for the incoming first-years but also for all members who missed out on all the fun events due to this restrictive year

In my first year in London, the Singaporean community in London was the support group that I turned to the most during the pandemic. I was only able to interact with many Singaporeans and form long-lasting friendships through the successful orientation and events organized by the committee. I feel that being the treasurer is the best way for me to contribute to the Singapore Society and I hope that you would all vote for me!
Wong Terrence
Hi, my name is Terence and I am running for the position of Treasurer because I want to contribute back to a society to which I could strongly relate. UCLSS is the first step towards integrating Singaporean students into university life and I hope to be part of that process.

I have experience being a treasurer and have managed funds and logistics for a large-scale Model United Nations event in collaboration with an external governmental organisation. This has helped me developed critical organisational and communication skills when working with my peers. Moreover, my prior work experience at an accounting firm has taught me the importance of bookkeeping and invoicing to ensure the finances are well-accounted for.

If elected, I would aim to bring greater welfare for the members by:
1. Spending more budget for each event
2. Increasing interactions with other societies but not limited to UCL
3. Having more partnerships to bring greater incentives for members.

This will allows our members to expand our social connections and build closer bonds with other students. Don’t worry about the budget as I am confident in balancing it through prudence and I will ensure that they are sustainable for future uses!

Thank you for reading and I hope I can serve you!
Shao Ang
Hello!! I am Shao Ren, a First Year PPE student, and I am running for director of finance as well!
I had been a treasurer previously back in JC, and I was also responsible for handling all finances during National Service. In both roles, I handled funds and also was responsible for looking for sponsorships. As such, I believe that the past experiences have equipped me with the required skills for contributing as a director of finance in our society.
I will not commit to any specific initiatives or anything concrete of how I will administer the budget today as budgets are highly event specific and I think it will not be responsible to committing anything before gaining a better understanding of the plans the next team will strive to achieve.
What I will commit is instead that I will ensure a proper upkeep of all our finances and be accountable to everyone of you. I will also ensure that all funds will be dispensed responsibly when required.
Lastly, I will work hard alongside my exco team to serve our community.
Thank You
